After your Acupuncture Treatment for Emotional Imbalances...

Updated: Oct 28, 2022

with Shakthi Vaidya. Here are a few things that you can do.

1. Rest.

If you are able to, rest. You body was undergoing its healing processes while you were on the treatment with Acupuncture needles in it and the healing process will continue. If you are unable to rest, it is also okay to go back to work but remember to take it easy.

2. Drink calming teas.

  • If you have been given an herbal formula remember to drink it as instructed. Remember, please do not add anything to the formulas. It is beautifully balanced and adding another ingredient will change its therapeutic effects of it.

  • If you would like to take an herbal formula, please reach out to me so that in your next visit, I can order one for you.

  • Here is a list of my favorites.

    • Rose

    • Jasmine

    • Chamomile

    • Raspberry Leaf Tea

3. Journal.

My favorite way to clear something out of my mind is to write it down. When I write whatever is on my mind I use it as a method to clear my mind. What is written on the page is no longer repeated in my mind. If I want to take it another step further I will tear up what I wrote and throw it away. This allows me to understand that my thoughts are important to process but not repeat within me constantly where they can interfere with my day-to-day activities.

4. Meditate.

Meditation is the act of being present and mindful. Whether you chose to be mindful as you walk, eat, or brush your teeth. The simple act of being mindful is extremely powerful.

My favorite meditation is walking meditation. As I am walking down a street I do my best to be present and mindful. I pay attention to the animals, plants, and trees around me. I feel each step I take and the ground beneath me. I know that the earth is here for me, to love me, and to balance me as long as we are here to connect with it. I acknowledge the people around me.

I also love to use guided meditations as I go to sleep. Here is the link to my favorite meditation. Here is the link to my favorite sound bath.

5. Breathing Exercises.

4-7-8 Breathing: Close your lips and inhale through your nose for a count of four. Hold your breath for a count of seven. Exhale completely through your mouth making a whoosh sound for a count of eight.

Box Breathing: Box breathing, also known as four-square breathing, involves exhaling to a count of four, holding your lungs empty for a four-count, inhaling at the same pace, and holding air in your lungs for a count of four before exhaling.

6. Go to sleep early.

While we sleep the body releases growth hormones into the body, which help your body grow and repair itself. The body is also releasing cytokines that fight inflammation, infection, or trauma through out the body and keep your immune system functioning at its best.
